Verizon outlines Droid 2.1 update

It seems like it’s pickings forever, but Verizon (New York Stock Exchange: VZ) is preparation the Android 2.1 update for the Motorola (NYSE: MOT test) Droid.
According to information (PDF) from Big Red River itself, Droid owners will be acquiring all the 2.1 goodness that tin be found in the Nexus One (Update: looks like it won’t get the 3D app launcher). There volition be catch-to-zoom functionality in the browser, drift and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps. The part-to-text lineament will be available for any text input box, and you’ll get those fancy 3D effects in the picture gallery. The live wallpapers ar coming too and there will be a night mode for Google Maps Navigator that makes it easier to survey when the sunlight is down. Sadly, there’s no official date for this update, but hopefully it shouldn’t proceeds more than a few weeks. This would be a nice thing for Motorola to announce at next workweek’s CTIA conference.
