LightSquared™, the nation’s first wholesale-only integrated 4G-LTE wireless broadband and satellite network, announced today a plan to ensure the nation’s public safety biotic community continues to have Push-to-Talk and other critical communications features that it has come to depend on as LightSquared moves to next generation satellite services.

LightSquared’s satellite network has played a critical role in federal, state and local public safety communications in emergencies dating back to 1996, including Hurricane Katrina and the recent series of devastating tornadoes that swept through Joplin, Missouri.

LightSquared’s next generation satellite service will continue to ensure seamless communications among multiple law enforcement and public safety agencies at the federal, state, tribal and local levels. These agencies have come to depend on the reliable interoperable communications capabilities that LightSquared provides.

As part of this plan, LightSquared volition:

* Replace the current LightSquared public safety devices at no cost and continue to documentation older devices through 2014.

* Work with the public safety community to design next multiplication LightSquared devices that meet the rugged standards demanded by public safety workers who work in a wide range of hostile conditions and environments.

* Continue to support the Satellite Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroup (SMART) program on which public safety agencies nationwide rely to communicate.

“For police, fire and rescue, satellite communications is a critical backstop when traditional networks go down or become overloaded by demand during natural disasters and other emergencies. Public safety depends on satellite communications when other networks fail, and LightSquared’s investment in Push-to-Talk volition literally help save lives in coming years,’’ said Bob Spieldenner, director of public affairs, Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

LightSquared’s next generation artificial satellite communication theory service will continue to have full interoperability with multiple public safety networks around the nation, a critical tool in national and local emergencies. Ubiquitous interoperable communications has been a goal of the populace safety community for many years and was highlighted immediately after the 2001 terror attacks when first responders were hindered in their ability to coordinate with each other because they used incompatible communications systems.

“In an emergency, the last thing public safety workers should rich person to worry about is their ability to communicate with each other. That’s why LightSquared is committed to the SMART programme, ensuring that the men and women on the front lines have communication devices that connect them to each other or to a federal means thousands of miles away,’’ said Sanjiv Ahuja, chairman and chief executive officer of LightSquared.

In summation, LightSquared has formed its own Emergency Rapid Response Team that is prepared to travel to troubled areas to assist first responders at the local, tribal, state and federal level with interoperable satellite communications.

It used to be held in Cannes, French Republic. The intellect it moved from Cannes is because it had outgrown the location. Well, it would seem that the GSMA will have to looking at for a new localisation, as Barcelona was so packed today it was hard to move. This is the third base year that I wealthy person attended what used to be called 3GSM, and I’ve never seen it so busy. It was heaving, people from all sides of the mobile earpiece manufacture converged in one place. Software companies, computer hardware companies, <a href='http://allmobilenews.net/cessna_selects_aircell_high_speed_net_for_citation_business_jets.html’ title=’Cessna Selects Aircell High Speed Net for Citation Business Jets’>networks, content providers, operating systems, chip makers, screen makers, and of course of action, the manufacturers. Getting around the vestibule was a real number bout, no time for good manners, it seemed, as I was buffeted and elbowed from stall to stall.

From inclination of exhibitors, my briny focus was on the manufacturers. Time was shortstop, and working to a tight docket, I wanted to shuffling sure I got to see as much as I could from the likes of Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, Samsung, and Motorola.

My first base interface of call was Nokia, and having had time with the handsets at the recent Press upshot in London, I didn’t really motive too much metre on the stand, nor did I motive to get many photos, which is just as well! You couldn’t relocation on the stand for people. They had all the recent French telephone releases there, such as the Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia E90, Nokia 5610, as fountainhead as the new releases, Nokia N78, Nokia 6210 Navigator and Nokia 6220. I am sure the Nokia N96 would wealthy person been there too, but I didn’t get to see it here.

After Nokia, I moved to the LG stand. LG wealthy person made some of the most popular handsets in the retail market of recent multiplication, with phone such as the LG Shine, LG Prada, and LG Chocolate. I was curious to see some handsets that we wealthy person already heard about, such as the LG KF600 Venus and LG F700, plus I wanted to know what other surprises they had for us. At the backrest of their stand was a showing for the blackamoor Metal kitchen stove. Shown were the LG Chocolate, and LG Shine. The pod for the next phone in that range was left blank, with a ‘To Be Confirmed’ signboard showing. I curiosity what they wealthy person got in store for us.

I got some hands on metre with the LG genus Venus. The unique fact about this handset is the dual social movement blind. The unit design of the phone is of a standard coast, but on the social movement with the handset closed, where you would normally see controller buttons, there is instead a touch blind section. This offers different icons, depending on what you ar actually doing at the metre, whether that be listening to music, writing an SMS or browse the web. A clever touching, when the phone is closed, the blind recoverer kicks in and utilises both the criterion blind and the touching blind. Doesn’t improve functionality in anyway, but looks good nonetheless.

The LG F700 is similar in design to the LG Prada, a long mobile with a large touchscreen. The conception works well but as with all touchscreen phones the fingerprints soon start to show.

After the LG Stand I stopped in at the Motorola stall. Last class, when I attended 3GSM with a fellow, we were not allowed to payoff any pictures of any Motorola French telephone, as it was restricted to press only. We were attending as visitors, so we had no chance. This year I attended as a member of the Press. No such problems this year, I thought. And it started of OK. I took a duo of pictures and a security measures guard came up to me. “Are you Press?” He asked. “Of course of action,” I replied, and showed him my badge. He gruffly mumbled something and left me to it. I walked around the stall a bit more pickings more photos. I was taking photos of the new PEBL earpiece, the U9 when another security human being came up “Are you Press?” He enquired. “Of course of action,” I replied and showed him my badge. However that wasn’t enough for him. “Did you register?” He persisted. I asked him to explain what he meant and he told me all Press had to register at the front of the outdoor stage before they were allowed to payoff pictures. I looked over and saw the length of the waiting line, and decided taking pictures of the PEBL wasn’t worth such a wait, and promptly left.

A quick line to Motorola. At an expo, where you exhibit your products, expect citizenry to payoff pictures, so they can go back and part them, with friends, with colleagues, and online. If you don’t like it, don’t exhibit. I would have thought that right now Motorola would be doing all it tin can to win friends, not alienate the very citizenry who wishing to know about their latest products.

After that brief stay on the Motorola stand, I moved to Samsung. Samsung were exhibiting the new Samsung SGH U900 Soul. You couldn’t fail to know about it, adverts were plastered all over town, visible on the drive in from the airdrome. You would promise that with such publicizing that Samsung had a product to warrantee it, and the U900 didn’t disappoint. The Samsung U900 Soul comes in a metallic stylus case, which is pleasurable to grip. It has a nice weighted tactile property, well balanced and looks good. The U900 is a coast stylus phone, similar to many Samsung phones to engagement. The slide stylus s an ideal choice if you wishing a large blind and a decent computer keyboard. The Samsung U900 has a 5.0 megapixel photographic camera, and appears to have a new stylus fare. The standout feature from looking at the phone is the new touchstyle pad. You can see from the photos, it is located on the outside of the earpiece, usually where you would expect to see the fare control keys. If you think touchpad as found on a laptop computer, you wealthy person some estimation of what this new controller digs looks like. You don’t coast your finger across the blind to controller the cursor as you do with a laptop computer, but there ar quaternary directional arrows with an ‘OK’ option in the midsection of the screen. All selections can also be made with the soft selection keys, which does seem to be a routine unnecessary. Overall the Samsung SGH U900 Soul is a nice French telephone and sure to sell well.

Finally, of the large manufacturers, I made my way to the Sony Ericsson stand. All the talking about Sony Ericsson has been about the X1. I’ll wager Microsoft is happy. Finally they wealthy person their Windows Mobile software system on a handset that could be mainstream, and a handset that has a decent feature set. The X1 has a 3 in wide touchscreen with a slide out QWERTY keypad that slides out in a soft spark, devising the blind easily viewable when the phone is positioned as a personal digital assistant. Control of the twist is also managed with a touching sensitive trackball. There was only I X1 on the outdoor stage, and whilst it was ‘out’ (I.e. not tush a display case) it wasn’t organism passed around. Security? Something to hide? Who knows? To be fair it would have been a prototype so it would have been unfair to evaluator the French telephone right now. From what I sawing machine, it looked very nice.

Sony Ericsson also had the G700i and G900i on display. These ar new touch blind phones from Sony Ericsson, designed to charm to the mainstream audience The G700i is a 3G handset, with a 3.2 megapixel photographic camera. The G900i is also a 3G handset and comes with a 5.0 megapixel camera, and both are based on the Symbian UIQ operating organisation. A different estimation from Sony Ericsson, as in possibility both these phones would sit in the smartphone family, but they ar not being sold as such. Time will tell whether the handsets ar a winner or not. I defendant that the next versions whitethorn be, but am not sure about these; they didn’t seem to have that riot factor.

By far the busiest manufacturer, Sony Ericsson also had the C702, C902 and W980i on display. The W980i is a Walkman handset, flip stylus, support both 3G and Mobile Broadband HSDPA. It is very light and compact, but feels form a plastic and cheap. There is no expandable storage, but the internal storage mental ability is an amazing 8GB, plenteousness of space for music, video and photos. The W980 as fountainhead as being a Walkman earpiece also incorporates an FM radio *and* has an FM transmitter. This works in a similar agency to the snip on modules available for portable medicine players, the twist will CAT scan for an available FM frequency and you can play your music assembling through your cable car or domicile stereophonic system.

The C702 and C902 are both Cybershot branded handsets. The Sony Ericsson C902i has a 5.0 megapixel camera, with car focus, simulacrum stabiliser and facing identification. The French telephone supports 3G and Mobile Broadband HSDPA, and is equipped with a second base, social movement face photographic camera for making video recording calls.

The Sony Ericsson C702i has a 3.2 megapixel camera, with car focussing. The handset is also 3G and has Mobile Broadband HSDPA connectivity, and is also equipped with an internal GPS receiving system and has support for A-Global Positioning System which volition assist the handset establish a quick login time.

Finally, I father’t normally looking at at accessories, my pursuit and for most others is on the new handsets. However, I saw II Sony Ericsson Bluetooth watches. Slimmer than the original Sony Ericsson Bluetooth vigil, the new stylus wares also has medicine controller controls on the position, allowing you to fast forward/rewind, skip tracks and controller the book. Very nice, maybe with these products remote Bluetooth controller volition finally smasher the mainstream market?

Overall it was a goodness exhibition, disdain the metre restraint. Negatives are Motorola and their photo policy, and the fact it was just too busy. A new venue is needed, I think, if this much interest is going away to be generated year after year. Positives are the new Nseries handsets, the Samsung U900 Soul and the Sony Ericsson X1.
