Motorola Deploys World’s First TD-LTE Showcase Network at Shanghai Expo

Motorola, Inc.’s Networks business announced today that it has successfully deployed a TD-LTE network at the Expo Center for World Expo 2010 Shanghai mainland China, and completed the first indoor over-the-air (OTA) TD-LTE data sessions at the site. These advancements demonstrate another milestone of collaborative manufacture efforts on TD-LTE commercialization, reaffirming Motorola’s commitment to savoir-faire the future needs of TDD spectrum operators in mainland China and around the world.

These milestones follow the annunciation by China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC) in 2009, that Motorola was selected as briny equipment provider to provide indoor TD-LTE coverage for pavilions at Shanghai Expo. During the Shanghai Expo, Motorola volition provide an advanced remnant-to-remnant TD-LTE solution and the world’s first base TD-LTE USB dongles. Motorola volition also leverage its orthogonal absolute frequency partitioning multiplexing (OFDM) expertise with professional services to deploy, maintain and optimize these leading-margin networks. Visitors volition be able to experience applications such as high gear-definition video on demand, remote monitoring and high-hurrying Internet approach services.

“Following the successes in 2009, we ar vey excited about the progress that has been made at Shanghai Expo,” said Dr. Mohammad Akhtar, frailty president and full general manager, Networks, Motorola Asia Pacific. “Motorola is the loss leader in TD-LTE through LTE trials and engagements with various operators around the world. We ar pleased that our high gear quality technologies and services tin can support CMCC in bringing a TD-LTE experience to Shanghai Expo, which provides many possibilities for a new media mobility lifestyle.”

Dr. Akhtar added, “Motorola has once again demonstrated the dependability and progress of our TD-LTE solution and our power to quickly deploy live mobile broadband networks in a real number earthly concern environment. Motorola’s more than 10 years of OFDM experience, award-winning LTE solutions and accurate mesh provision are tercet key factors in helping operators lower the total price of ownership of deploying and operating a TD-LTE mesh.”

Motorola is I of the few vendors in the manufacture that has expertness in, has committed to, and is investing FDD-LTE and TD-LTE, as well as WiMAX. This leadership position builds upon Motorola’s OFDM innovations and its extensive expertness in OFDM network deployment and procedure worldwide. Early in 2004, Motorola successfully achieved a downlink throughput of up to 300 megabits per second base (Mbps) in a 20MHz bandwidth using OFDM modulate technology. Many of these enquiry findings were leveraged into new products exploitation, including Motorola’s PTP and PMP solution portfolio, as fountainhead as the 802.16e WiMAX solutions. Up to date, Motorola has shipped thousands of OFDM access points and billions of OFDM CPE worldwide.

With the maturation interest in LTE, TDD operators can fully leverage the spectrum advantages as existing and new mobile broadband networks quickly consume current spectrum allocations. Motorola’s leadership in TD-LTE is demonstrated by a number of industry-leading successes. Motorola was the first base company in the manufacture to achieve optimal peak throughput for TD-LTE in both lab and field environments. In addition, Motorola demonstrated a number of headstone capabilities over the TD-LTE network, including mobility and helping hand-over with live applications, Multi-user equipment (UE) scheduling under I sector and more.

Motorola remains on running in its LTE ecosystem plan and is devising strides toward TD-LTE commercialization and globalisation. Recently, Motorola announced the successful closing of the TD-LTE headstone functionalities tests initiated by mainland China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Earlier, Motorola demonstrated the earthly concern’s first base live TD-LTE driving force tour in Geneva at ITU Telecom World and successfully completed the reefer OTA trial with operators as office of the collaborative trials scheduled throughout 2009. Motorola is also engaged with several other global tier up-I operators on TD-LTE trials that commenced in Q4 2009.

Motorola’s LTE Solution

Motorola continues to build its LTE momentum after a serial publication of successful advancements in 2009. Recently, Motorola partnered with Verizon Wireless to demonstrate radio HD video recording streaming over a pre-commercial message LTE network with its own 4G LTE mobile chopines during the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Earlier, in Oct 2009, Motorola demonstrated the earthly concern’s first live TD-LTE drive demonstration at ITU World Telecom in Geneva. This follows successful live LTE driving force experiences earlier in 2009 in Barcelona, Las Vegas and Kingdom of Sweden. Motorola has been selected by KDDI as a key vendor to help develop and implement KDDI’s nationwide LTE mesh. Motorola also is engaged in LTE run activity with other operators in North America, EEC and Asia and operates an LTE trial network and examination lab in Swindon, U.K.

Motorola’s LTE solution is comprised of its OFDM broadband platform and a option of wireless options that include multiple-stimulus multiple-output (MIMO) and smart antennas. It also features Motorola’s advanced ego-organizing network (SON) solution. Motorola’s WBR 700 Series LTE eNodeB offers unprecedented capability and density in a 1U single-foot that is one of the smallest and most vigour efficient eNodeBs in the manufacture. Motorola’s WBR 700 Series LTE eNodeB also offers flexible deployment options with frame based-mounted radios, remote control radio heads and tug big top radios to documentation a wide variety of LTE deployment scenarios across numerous spectrum bands to sports meeting the needs of the global market.

Motorola’s LTE portfolio also includes its evolved packet nitty-gritty (EPC) result – the Wireless Broadband Core (WBC) 700 portfolio, backhaul, mesh management solutions, video recording solutions that monetize LTE investiture and a complete portfolio of master services. The Motorola leukocyte 700 is comprised of Motorola’s mobility management entity (MME), mail boat and serving gateways (P-GW and S-GW), and a insurance and charging rules function server (PCRF).

Motorola’s LTE portfolio has won multiple awards, including its EPC and advanced SON solutions being named recipients of the 2009 4GWE LTE Visionary Award. In addition, the SON was recognized in the Service Management family at the 2009 CTIA Wireless E-Tech Competition, EPC was a finalist in the 2009 InfoVision Awards, and the eNodeB received a 2009 Next Generation Networks Leadership Award.
