iPlayer on iPhone: BBC readying a new version of iPlayer for Apple’s baby
Do you like Eastenders? Addicted to the ‘stage business’ shenanigans in The Apprentice? Say what you like about BBC’s current programing output, people seem to lap it up. So it volition be welcome news to most iPhone owners that the BBC is upgrading its mobile version of the iPlayer. This new variant of iPlayer volition use the new iPhone OS, due out this week.
From the Nokia N96 right up to the sword new Sony Ericsson W995, iPlayer documentation is something that has been boasted about by many different manufacturers — but according to Electric Pig, the next measure is going to be far more exciting. Jason DaPonte, the managing editor of BBC Mobile River, was on the BBC UK Twitter provender answering questions about the future tense of iPlayer, with a lot of the queries focalization on mobile. One of the questions asked if the planned social networking elements would be ported to mobile. DaPonte responded "We’re look at what social features will spring you the topper experience in conjunction with PC BBC iPlayer. It’s exciting!" We’re look at whether we tin make that work with the 3.0 iPhone software". iPhone OS 3.0 allows HTTP cyclosis so you should, in theory at least, be able to get hold of TV shows on your mobile at a decent speeding.
