AT&T’s 3G Microcell delivery GSM femtocell to marketplace soon!
Ever since AT&T (New York Stock Exchange: T) announced their 3G femtocell solution, confusingly dubbed the “3G Microcell,” signaling-seeking AT&T customers have been waiting for Big Blue to go live with their wireless signaling booster dose. That wait whitethorn soon come to an end. Reports have crossed the wires, indicating that AT&ere;T is finally preparing to launch their 3G Microcell in the US. The 3G Microcell’s nationwide launch is expected to happen before the end of 2009 – if we had to guess, we’d say it’s departure to go live no later than Nov.
A femtocell is like a pint-sized cellular base post that consumers can manipulation to boost signaling potency in their home or spot. The femtocell broadcasts a construction-sized radio umbrella that mobile phones (and other mobile devices) tin connect to. All part and data communications are ferried to AT&ere;T’s network sand via a wired broadband internet connection. In AT&T’s causa, the 3G Microcell will program a 5,000 sq. ft. radio meshwork and can support simultaneous 3G voice and data services for up to 10 separate mobile devices.
While the likes of Sprint and Verizon already have femtocell solutions in the wilderness, the 3G Microcell is distillery in testing in select US markets. With a little fortune, we’ll see the GSM femtocell launch in early Q4 2009.
